Davao City to host 6th National STEP Competition

Davao City will host the 6th National Student Technologists and Entrepreneurs of the Philippines –National Skills Development Competition ( STEP-NSDC) on November 19-24, 2007. The
Jose Maria Colleges, an institution owned by the Jesus Christ Ministry under Pastor Apollo Quibuloy, was chosen to be the host school to the said competition.Â
About two thousand participants coming from the whole country is expected to join the national competition.Â
This year’s theme is  “STEP: Upgrading Skills, Improving Lives”Â
STEP is under the umbrella of Department of Education’s Center for Students and Co-Curricular Affairs and is chaired by Hon. Joey Pelaez.Â
 It provides the students with practical experiences, technical know-how and opportunities in home-economics, agricultural technology, industrial arts, entrepreneurship, and ICT Integration while developing and building wholesome character to strengthen national competitiveness and productivity.Â
It is also recalled that Region XI emerged as the over-all champion in the 5th National STEP-NSDC which was held in Teacher Camp, Baguio City on November 20-25, 2006.
Yeng teaches secondary-level students at a national high school in Davao City. She is the yearbook and campus publications moderator and mentors students who excelled in various national writing and publication competitions.
