That was my opening line in an essay writing contest that I joined when I was in still a college stude several years ago. It was an on-the-spot essay writing contest sponsored by the Davao City Historical Society and the theme was Davao City:  Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. And that piece has landed second place, not too bad, though.

Although, I could not exactly remember what I had written in that essay but it delved on the idea that Davao City has started to rise after its fall from being tagged as the training ground of the NPA’s which were abundant in our country several years ago.

Indeed, this city has finally risen into a world class city and a tourist destination as more and more foreigners choose Davao City as a “must see” place in this country.

Investors have started to pour down here, thus providing more job opportunities to those who seek a greener pasture. Look at the rising edifices in Davao City -  those are the evidences that we are finally emerging in terms of economy. 

Not to mention the peace-loving and generally peaceful place plus the many things the city has to offer, probably every visitor would never ask for more for we offer just everything they need.

 Davao City,  is just like the fire where it name came from “daba-daba,” - a fire that is blazing telling the world that this city will continually lit the heart of its visitors and would warmly cradle them as if it is  its own.

So come.  Visit Davao.
