DAVAO CITY — The Office of Philippine Sports Commissioner Leon Montemayor is backing the inter-school girls’ basketball and volleyball tournaments that start on separate dates in Davao City.

Vic Sai, President of theDavao Sports Council Inc., said that the girls’ basketball competition reels off on October 21 at the Davao City Recreation Center with eight teams entered.

Ateneo de Davao High Schoolis defending its title in the third edition of the girl’s cagefest against Assumption High, Sta.Ana High, F.Bangoy High, Aguinaldo High, Stella Maris Academy, University of Immaculate Conception High and Crossing Bayabas National High.

Commissioner Montemayor will formally open the tournament at 8:30 a.m.

The inter-school volleyballcompetition at the Rizal Park was supposed to beheld simultaneously but it was moved to October 27 to give way to the Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) Meet.

`This is a continuation of support to youth basketball and volleyball development,’ said Sai on Thursday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at the Tower Inn.
