Batucan captures 7th Bamboo Store chess title
DAVAO CITY — John Ray Batucan scored better via tie break to capture the 7th Bamboo Store Monthly Age Group Chess Tournament title, Sunday, at the Market Basket of DAMOSA in Lanang.
The bet of Don Juan dela Cruz Elementary School scored 4.5 points, but came up with a better Buccholz score over first runner-up Ademar Toleran Jr. of SPED Bangkal.
Alfred Zamora of San Isidro Elementary School finished with four points to place third but not after outscoring Gary Rojo of Holy Cross of Davao College in another tiebreak.
Barging in the top 10 circle were Adrian Acas of Davao City National High School, John Gerard Acedo of Jose Maria College, John Carl Aunso of T.V.Fernandez National High School, Jason Rojo of Davao Central College, Rowelyn Acedo of Jose Maria College and Denzel John Amar of Magallanes Elementary School.
The tournament was organized by the Blue Knight Chess Club with the support of Bamboo Store in coordination with the Davao Sports Council Inc.
Mo is based in Davao City.
