DAVAO CITY — Maco “A” defeated Montserrat Camp School in the 10 years old and under boys’ final of the S.O.S. Children’s Village Football For A Cause, Saturday, at the Tionko field.

Maco “B” Team placed third.

Catalunan Grande won the 12 years old and under division at the expense of Ayan Elementary School of Compostela Valley Province while the Indonesian School landed at third place.

Ateneo “A” continued its domination in girls’ football by winning the elementary division title after beating S.O.S. Children’s Village while Ateneo “B” took the third spot.

Davao United Football Club won over Ateneo in the high school division final while S.O.S. wind up at third but S.O.S. bagged the girls’ title at the expense of Ateneo. Philippine Women’s College took the third spot.

D’ Davao Survivors shot down Sea Gull in the women’s open final while Davao United FC landed third.

The 7-A-Side tournament was organized to raise funds for the 181 kids taken cared of by the Children’s Village.

SOS Village Director Luis Seras, Davao FA President Gerry Romero-Salas, Davao FA General Secretary Erwin Protacio, Councilor Mabel Acosta, Bantay Bata’s Ella Abad-Tan, 25th Infantry Battalion Commander Maj. Roland Rodil, and Philippine Football Federation presidential candidate Ed Formoso graced the event.

Director Seras vowed to support similar undertaking to promote the children’s welfare.

Al Barnett of Al’s Diner gave gift certificates to the champions during the awarding ceremony.
DFA General Secretary Protacio said a total of 42 teams participated including from Ateneo de Davao, Indonesian School of Davao, Davao United FC, Holy Cross of Calinan, Kapt. Tomas Monteverde ES, Montserrat Camp School, Navarro National High School, Davao City National High School, Catalunan Grande ES, Philippine Women’s Collge of Davao, Sea Gull FC, South Point School, D’ Davao Survivors, Davao United FC, SOS Children’s Village, UP Mindanao including teams from Compostela Valley Province namely,  Cabuyoan ES, Maubog ES, Pangibiran ES, Ayan ES, and Maco FC.

The tournament was sponsored by 90.7 Love Radio DXBM,  Davao City Mayor’s Office, and Al’s Diner.
