DAVAO CITY — Ateneo de Davao bowed down to University of Iloilo, 66-69 in the men’s basketball event of the 2007 National University Games, Wednesday, in Bacolod City.Six-footer Conrad Fernando could not see action because of an injury that affected coach Cholo Elegino’s offense unit.
The Blue Knights meet the Negros Oriental State University today and a victory would give them a chance to barge in to the quarterfinals for the first time in 12 years.
After scoring two victories, Ateneo hoped to tally its third win but the Ilonggos played better in the fourth quarter to stop the Dabawenyos.
“There is still hope,” Elegino said.
