Hi!

It has been a long time since I updated my column. For some reasons, time didn’t allow me to get into some things. I have been busy with work and some things that needed my attention.

I’ll be leaving for Tasmania tomorrow for some work to do on one of our clients at their Hobart and Launceston sites. We would be interconnecting sites and offices as operations needed better link to their Melbourne office.

But anyway, you might heard of our fellow Dabawenyo, Capt. Gavino Mercado, Jr., (news link / Google Search Results) who has been “lost” since November in searching for a capsized ship with Filipino fishermen around Palawan. Our friends and brothers in Scouting have organized a team to help search for Capt. Mercado. Updates and some details are being e-mailed to us by team leader and a friend, John Oliver Valmoria.

So, at this moment, I hope things are doing great in Davao as I really miss home. Have you tried Sana’s Tapa at Juan Luna Ext.? I miss my trisikad rides going to their humble karinderya. Though not that fancy, I’m sure you’ll get satisfied.

Until next time. Ayo-ayo mong tanan“.

Happy New Year!!!

Being away from “home” for the holidays has been a struggle to keep my sanity intact. Though my aunt from Sydney went here to celebrate with us, I can’t help but think about Davao. I heard a lot of gatherings and reunions with my friends and I feel sad missing them all.Getting through the holidays seems like a normal season for most of us here. Though malls and houses are madly decorated, the emptiness just creeps within me. Christmas in Oz is really is different. Not much fuss and nothing like Pinoys do.

After living here for almost 6 months, I could say that money isn’t really everything. I have spoiled myself during the holidays but never in blue hell did I enjoy like being with family and friends.

Anyway, few hours from now would be another year to get through and I hope things would be good for all of us. As much as I would like to stay and work in Davao, there’s not much opportunity to get things done sooner. I hope and pray that everything will be better for all the Pinoys in the world.

Happy New Year and God bless us all.
